Sajanthi and Yavi

This next couple’s story is a true testament of you never know when, where and how you’ll meet someone. Take Sajanthi and Yavi for example, this couple met at while working on an Asian Cultural Variety Show together. While their relationship was a progression from that day, none of it would have happened if they hadn’t initially met that day. (Ladies and Gentlemen, take note as your future partner may be in the vicinity!)

Their Story

Sajanthi and I met while working on the Asian Cultural Variety Show when we were students at Cambridge University. Sajanthi was one of the show’s main organizers and I wrote some comedy sketches for it. I liked her at the time but didn’t detect any interest from her side at first! Fortunately, we stayed in touch and became closer friends over the next couple of years, and started dating after university.

We were both born and raised in London. We both work as actuaries in the finance sector in the City of London – but in an alternate universe, Sajanthi would be a musical theatre performer and I’d be a sitcom or comic book writer.

Our Hindu wedding took place on Sunday, June 25th 2017. Both of us are the eldest in our families and were the first to get married – which meant our parents had quite a long guest list. After a couple of months of searching, our caterers, Madhu’s, helped us to find our dream venue – The Great Room at Grosvenor House on London’s beautiful Park Lane. We then spent the next twelve months researching, meeting and choosing vendors and planning as much as possible down to the finest detail. Sajanthi was intent on making sure the day ran smoothly. I was more concerned with the personalised comic book we had made to explain the Sri Lankan Tamil Hindu wedding ceremony. We were delighted with the way it all turned out on the day, thanks to all our wonderful suppliers, our families, and our extremely helpful army of 8 bridesmaids and 8 groomsmen.
