Happy New Year fellow readers! We hope you had a wonderful holiday season, we know we sure did. We took some time off from this wonderful world here at Tie The Thali to focus on our families and the real world but we are excited to be back and can’t wait for what 2019 has in store. We are starting it off right with beautiful couple from our home and native land. Meet Mayooran and Christina! Their story is a classic one of meeting during their youth but not reconnecting until later on in life! Pay attention readers to those around you — you never know who around you will come back to be the “One!”

“We’re both Sri Lankan and lived in Montreal our whole lives, so I’m notsure why it took us 17 years to meet.”
I met Mayooran when I was 17 years old in class. At the time, neither of us really thought anything of it other than we had a lot of mutual friends so it made sense that we finally met. Fast forward 5 years of friendship, dating other people and hanging out a lot, we find ourselves in an empty parking lot, sharing our first kiss. We were both unsure of what that meant at the time but I knew everything about it felt so right. Now, 13 years later I’m so grateful for that kiss because it led us to see something in each other we were never able to see before and I got to marry the absolute love of my life.
Originally Maju and I got engaged in October 2016 and our wedding was set for September 2017. Unfortunately, my father passed away in July 2017 so Maju and I decided to push the wedding. Maju and I have had to cross a lot of hurdles over the last 9 years together. This one, however was one of the harder ones but we did it! We made it and he made sure I got the wedding I always dreamt of. We finally got married in May of 2018. As Maju is Hindu and I’m Catholic it was really important for us to incorporate both our religions. We had our Catholic Wedding at St Brendan’s Parish, our Hindu Wedding at the DDO civic center and ended off our wedding with our reception at the Salle de paragon.

“I’m constantly telling him that I would marry him all over again just to re-live those three days with him again.”
