Vinojikaa & Niro – Wedding Highlights

It’s a love story, and she said yes! This couple from the United Kingdom met a way most couples these days have been meeting – online. Beating all odds and pressure of marrying young, here we are today getting to know a fun and loving couple. Read below to find out more about the couple and to see their stunning wedding highlights!

I (Vinojikaa) used to look down on meeting people online a little because it didn’t seem original. As I believed meeting “the one” should happen, naturally. Back in June 2013, I was checking my phone through my work break as we all do and that’s when I came across his friend request. At first, I was hesitant, eventually I accepted and we begun talking. We clicked straight away and spoke to each other for hours and hours. One day, we decided that it was time we met and spoke to each other in person.

On the 27th of June, we met in Westfield and we became official 3 months later (I had to make sure that I was making the right decision for myself and my family). He still says, ‘The first time we met, I fell in love and I already knew that I wanted to be with you forever. I wanted to make you mine and I did’.

I was born in Jaffna and came to London when I was just 4 years old and he was born in France and came here when he was 8 years old. I work as a Case Manager at a medical assistance company and he is a Deputy Manager  at Tesco.
We held our civil wedding on his 25th birthday, June 10th 2015 at Wandsworth register office and held our traditional wedding and reception on the 27th of June at Nakshatra Hall, Feltham. (Yes, exactly 2 years after we met!)

When we got married, I just turned 20 and him 25, I just finished my 2nd year at University.  I moved in to his house with his parents. I had a lot of mixed emotions about leaving the town I grew up in, my parents and Anna. Up till this day, my Maami (mother in law) spoils me and treats me like her own daughter and has made sure that I was never homesick.

I never imagined I’d be the type of girl that would be getting married young. It’s become an article of faith in today’s culture that you should put off marriage so you can focus on your education and career first. I’ve heard people say, ‘getting married young means it is the end of your freedom’. It doesn’t offend me, it just means that I get to travel and see the world, with him by my side. I like going out late, but coming home to him waiting for me, vice versa. It just means that we get to spend a little more years together.  It means that you learn and gain financial stability together. Especially, when you start out with nothing, you learn to be grateful for anything.

Yes, marriage is challenging, and getting married at a young age sets us up for unique obstacles. However, there are also perks to entering marriage and adulthood roughly at the same time. It’s not all bad decisions and dead ends.

In 2016: I turned 21, we celebrated our one year anniversary, and I graduated.

My husband is one of my greatest blessings.
